OverviewLocalArtists,inpartnershipwith<strong>Dolphins</strong>onParadesponsors,willcreateuniquedesignsfor75‐100,65”tallfiberglassdolphinstatues.The<strong>Dolphins</strong>onParadewillbestatuesappearinginapprovedlocationschosenbysponsorsoncitystreets,inlobbies,inparks,etc.ThecoreareaforthedolphinswillbeintheCentennialOlympicParkArea,DowntownandMidtown.TheDolphinParadewillbeginattheGeorgiaAquariumduringtheopeningweeksofthenewdolphingallery.Thenslowly,overthecourseofseveralweeksthedolphinswillparadeouttonewlocationsaroundthecity.Toolssuchaswebsitepromotion,socialmediawithTwitter,Facebook,YouTubeandFlickr,andmarketingtoourAquariumvisitorswillbeusedtogenerateexcitementanddirectgueststotheirlocations.Thisprogramismodelledafterothersuccessfulcommunityartprojectslikethe“CowsonParade,”“TownTurtles”ofSandySprings,“WeLettheDogsOut”inAthens,GAandtheAtlantaAll‐StarBaseballs.

Cause–SEAProgramGeorgiaAquariumeducatesthousandsofstudentseachyearthroughbothformalandfieldtrip‐styleprograms.Theactivitiesandclassesfillagapinoureducationsystembyallowingtrainededucatorstocoverimportanttopicsinscience,mathandhumanitiesthatrelatedirectlytoGeorgiaperformancestandardsandtotestingsuccess.Theapproachishandsonandengagingsothatstudentsleavewithexperiencesthatlastalifetime.ThroughgenerousdonationstheAquariumisabletoprovidetheseprogramsatasponsoredrateof$11toallstudents.<strong>Dolphins</strong>onParadewillfundour“SponsoredEducationAdmissions”Programandallowtheseeffortstocontinueintothefuture.

LocationsSponsorsmayproposeanylocationtheychoose.Wesuggestthatinitiallydolphinsbedisplayedatalocationsvisiblefromthestreet.GeorgiaAquariumiscreatingalistofpossiblelocationsthatwillbeavailableforreviewinlatesummer/earlyfall.

ArtistsGeorgiaAquariumisworkingwithCityofAtlantaBureauofCulturalAffairs,FultonCountyArtsCouncilArtistsRegistry,GeorgiaCouncilfortheArts,localschoolsanduniversities,andlocalgalleriestoofferalistofartistswhowillreceiveahonorariumforthecreationofadolphin.Inthesummer,sponsorswillbeabletoselectadesignfromthisartistsgrouporbeabletocontracttheirownartistforthecreationofthedolphindesign.
