Peter Mac provides radiotherapy services to approximately70–80 children / young adolescents per annum predominantlythrough ambulatory radiotherapy services. A small number(8–14 per annum) are admitted as in-patients. In addition, anincreasing number of children are accessing PET (PositronEmission Tomography) services at Peter Mac.Compared to 2003–04 (n=48), there has been a 64% increasein the total number of children / young adolescents treated in2007–08 (n=78) (see Figure 5 below).Figure 6 reflects the very significant expansion of PET servicesprovided for children and adolescents over the past five years.Increasing capacity at the Monash Medical Centre was akey outcome for PICS. Table 2 demonstrates a gradual increasein care being provided at the MMC campus.
