At the end it is worth to mention that the Southern Khorasan also is home to somesmaller communities of Laki-speaking Yarsan (Ahli-haq) Kurds. These were deportedhere from Southern Kurdistan during the reign of the Afsharid monarchs of Persian inthe middle of the 18 th Century (about 1775, AC). Indeed, Karim-Khan, the founder ofthe Zand dynasty of Persia that succeeded the Afsharids, was himself born to a familyof these Kurdish (Laki-speaking) deportees of the zand tribe. After ascending thepeacock throne, Karim brought most of his people back to their original home. Thosewho chose to stay behind are the ancestors of the modern Laks of the SouthernKhorasan in suburban of Birjand and Ghayenat (Qohistan).22
