<strong>The</strong> <strong>Edinburgh</strong> <strong>Canal</strong> <strong>Strategy</strong><strong>The</strong> <strong>Canal</strong> HubsRathoatho is reasonably established as an attractive waterway destination. <strong>The</strong> existing waterside pub will be supplemented byR proposed canal side residential moorings generating a strong waterway focus.It is recognised that there is an opportunity at Rathoto enhance the recreational potential <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Canal</strong>,building on the <strong>Edinburgh</strong> <strong>Canal</strong> Centre, links withthe Ratho Adventure centre and its position as anovernight mooring point between Linlithgow and<strong>Edinburgh</strong>.However the strategy should protect against theoverdevelopment/urbanization <strong>of</strong> the canal side andpromote co-ordination between developers, BritishWaterways and the community to upgrade andmaintain quality <strong>of</strong> the canal.<strong>The</strong> Bridge Inn at Ratho © Grant Ritchie - www.photos<strong>of</strong>edinburgh.co.uk26 December 2011 <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Edinburgh</strong> <strong>Council</strong> <strong>City</strong> Development
