OverviewMessenger Nano Radios provide a reliable, low-cost means of data communications in SCADA (SupervisoryControl and Data Acquisition) systems for Water and Wastewater, Oil and Gas, Power Generation andMonitoring and HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems. They are based upon MicrohardSystems “Nano” radio modules. These data radios operate within the 902-928MHz or 2.4000-2.4835GHz ISMfrequency bands, using frequency hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) technology. They provide reliable wirelessasynchronous data transfer between most equipment types which employ an RS232, RS485 or USB interface. The radios have a very wide operating temperature range, are compact and easy to install and configure invarious operating scenarios. Besides a data communications connection, the radios require only a DC powersupply ranging from 10 to 30Vdc, and a suitable antenna.Messenger Nanos require what is typically a very small amount of configuration as part of their installation. This requires a terminal emulation program for configuration using a PC computer. If you do not have suchaprogram, please contact technical support at ICL for a link to a downloadable free copy.Performance FeaturesKey performance features of the Messenger Series Nanos include:transmission within a public, North American, license-exempt band of the radio spectrum - modemsmay be used without access fees or recurring charges (such as those incurred by cellular airtime)transparent, low latency link providing up to 230Kbps continuous throughputcommunicates with virtually all PLCs, RTUs, and serial devices through either an RS232, RS485 and USBinterfacesupports point-to-point, point-to-multipoint, store and forward repeater, TDMAwide temperature specificationmaximum allowable transmit power (1 Watt)low power consumption in Sleep Mode (real-time clock wakeup)32 bits of CRC, selectable retransmission and forward error correctionseparate diagnostics port - transparent remote diagnostics and online network controlease of installation and configuration - utilizes a subset of standard AT-style commands, similar tothose used by traditional telephone line modemsCopyright © 2012 Industrial Control Links, Inc.
