The Champion • Wednesday 5 September 2012Brain surgeon totest his skills... ona watermelon!By David RavenMVisit us @ www.ChampNews.com • 5A BRAIN surgeon will be demonstrating hisskills on a watermelon at an open afternoon atThe Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust.Clinical director of neurosurgery Paul Maywill ‘operate’ on watermelons in a session foryoung aspiring brain surgeons at the event,from 1pm this Saturday, September 8.The school presentations are part of a publicevent which also includes a display of plans forthe neuroscience trust’s expansion;demonstrations and displays by differentprofessionals working in the neurosciencetrust; and children’s entertainment.The school presentations by HR professionalsand doctors are a chance to find out moreabout a wide range of jobs in the NHS –including brain surgery.Mr May said: “Neurosurgery is a highlyskilled occupation which some may think isbeyond their reach as a possible profession.
