Impact on girls’ and women’s healthAccording to a gynaecologist from the region, a woman’s body is most vulnerableto infections during the menstrual period. The fact is, blood acts as an excellentmedium for the growth of bacteria. Poor personal and vaginal hygiene can leadto bacterial growth in menstrual blood and then in the female genital tract, beforespreading to the rest of the body.But this information barely reaches patients who only seek medical help in the eventof a serious problem. The medical consequences are often infection, tubal obstructions,infertility, and the worsening of certain diseases.
