Board of EducationWe take great pride in the mission andperformance of the Wilton Public Schools. Amajority of residents with children often citethe schools as the reason that they chose tolocate in this community. Our community hasgenerously supported the Wilton Public Schoolsand the professionals, support staff andvolunteers who serve the school system takethe responsibility of stewardship very seriously.We strive to address the challenges before usand to provide a solid return on the investmentthat the community has made in its schools.The Board of Education consists of sixmembers who serve under the provisionsof Connecticut General Statutes: they “shallmaintain good public elementary and secondaryschools, implement the educational interests ofthe state and provide such other educationalactivities as in its judgment will best serve theinterests of the school district.” This provisionunderscores the dual role of Board of Educationmembers. The members of the Board ofEducation are municipal officials serving theTown as well as state agents charged with theresponsibility for implementing the educationalinterests of the state.
