CHILDREN’S SPECIAL PROGRAMSTo register for Children’s Special Programs, please see page 15.MERBABE AND ME8–36 monthsThis is a water adjustment class for children ages 8 months to 3 yearswho are accompanied by an adult. This class enables children toenjoy the water with someone they trust by playing games, singingsongs and having fun! Children who are not toilet trained must wearplastic pants or swim diapers.SESSION DATES:M/W Session A June 18 – July 11. . . .........no class July 4; four-week sessionSession B July 30 – Aug. 22. . ..four-week sessionLevel S-3 – Stroke DevelopmentThis level builds on the skills introduced in Level 2.5, with guidedpractice in deeper water. Skills introduced at this level include dolphinand scissor kicks as well as basic diving. The focus will be increasedproficiency and endurance of front crawl, elementary backstroke andtreading water.Level S-3.5 – Stroke PracticeThis level introduces back crawl, breaststroke, underwater swimming,feet first surface dives and standing dives. The focus will be increasedproficiency and endurance of front crawl, butterfly, sidestroke andelementary backstroke.Level S-4 – Stroke ImprovementLevel 4 introduces breaststroke, rotary kick, sculling and survivalfloat. The focus will be increased proficiency and endurance of frontcrawl, back crawl, butterfly, elementary backstroke, breaststroke andtreading water.Level S-5 – Stroke RefinementLevel 5 introduces flip turns, sidestroke, survival swimming, longshallow dives and tuck and pike surface dives. The focus will becontinued proficiency, stroke refinement and endurance of frontcrawl, back crawl, butterfly, breaststroke, elementary backstrokeand sidestroke.Level S-6 – Swimming and Skill ProficiencyAt this level swimmers have the choice of the following tracks:Personal Water Safety or Fitness Swimmer.In addition to the specialized tracks listed above, the intent of this level isto refine strokes so swimmers are able to swim with ease.
