Ontario’s Child<strong>care</strong> IndustryKids Help<strong>in</strong>g KidsADCOTHE ASSOCIATION OF DAY CARE OPERATORS OF ONTARIOADCO Members Raise Over $65,000 <strong>for</strong>Children’s Hospitals!walkathon updateAs the last issue of Child<strong>care</strong> Today was go<strong>in</strong>g topress, the staff, <strong>child</strong>ren and families at dozensof ADCO member centres across Ontario weremak<strong>in</strong>g their f<strong>in</strong>al preparations <strong>for</strong> ADCO’s 2012 KidsHelp<strong>in</strong>g Kids Walkathon. While monies are still trickl<strong>in</strong>g<strong>in</strong>, this year’s total is over $65,000! Congratulationsand thank you <strong>for</strong> achiev<strong>in</strong>g such fantastic results <strong>for</strong>Ontario's four regional <strong>child</strong>ren's hospitals.In its 25-year history, the ADCO Kids Help<strong>in</strong>g KidsWalkathon has raised over $1 million, which has beenshared by the Hospital <strong>for</strong> Sick Children, Toronto; Mc-Master Children’s Hospital, Hamilton; Children’s Hospitalof Eastern Ontario, Ottawa; and Children’s Hospitalof Western Ontario, London.Almost every ADCO member centre has a specialconnection to one of these four hospitals. Typically, a<strong>child</strong> who has been enrolled at that centre has received<strong>care</strong> at the hospital that centre supports. Many havedramatic stories of survival and recovery thanks to thespecialized expertise and facilities available at the hospital.Some centres even use their walk to remember orsupport a <strong>child</strong> who has been ill.
