projection screensprojection screensCalculating the correct brightness for a projector and projection screen solutionThe clarity of the projected image should possess in order for it to be perceived well(quantity of projected light coming from the projection screen) depends on thefollowing points:n The amount of ambientlight presentn The reflection value ofthe screen fabricn Light output of theprojector (ANSI lumens)For the optimum legible projectionquality the size of the screen, t<strong>here</strong>flection value of the screen surfaceand the light output of the projectorshould all be attuned to one another.The following formula applies in calculating this:LUX = Output ANSI lumens of projector x Reflection value of screen surface (gain)Surface area of the screen in square metersThe perceived amount of light that is reflected by the screen is expressed in LUX, for an optimal image quality, the ratio betweenthe LUX value of the projected image and the wall behind should be 5:1.A rule of thumb which can be used with normal ambient light is that when the value of the wall behind is 80 LUX, the value ofthe amount of light that is emitted by the projection screen should approx 400 LUX.LUX can be measured by using a photographic light meter.Custom projection screensWe can offer the following customisation:n The size of the viewable screen arean The size of the black borders and masking aroundviewable arean The amount of extra backdropn The fabric type (typically matte white or highcontrast grey)n The colour of the case (white or black)n The colour of the dowel bar (weight bar at thebottom of the screen)n The clients logo or your logo onto the surface90
