Graduates have the optionof further study, either at the <strong>NMIT</strong> MarlboroughCampus or at Lincoln to complete the LincolnUniversity Bachelor of Viticulture and Oenology.This involves the equivalent of one more year offull time study plus a summer school at the <strong>NMIT</strong>Marlborough Campus after completion of the<strong>NMIT</strong> diploma. He’d studied viticulture at <strong>NMIT</strong> andhighly recommended it because it really sets you up for work in the industry.”Steve Jackson never thought at 50 he’d be starting all over again in a new career.But, that’s exactly what happened, he caught the viticulture bug and enrolled in<strong>NMIT</strong>’s Diploma in Viticulture and Wine Production.Steve is now a vineyard assistant at Mount Base Vineyard in Waihope Valley where heworks alongside the manager overseeing 51 hectares of sauvignon blanc grape vines.The job appealed because it will give him the experience he needs to realise his goal ofbecoming a vineyard manager.“It’s quite a varied role.
