PRECI-DIP DURTAL SA · CH-2800 DELEMONTWWW.PRECIDIP.COMInnovation: another word for normalityGood growth thanks to new productsAs expected, 2004 brought back goodgrowth with an increase of almost 16% insales in comparison with 2003. The changewas most welcome after an unusually longperiod of slow economy. The increase is due to our product rangesfor the telecommunications market withan important share of customised productsand to the new MIL-C-39029 contact line fordefence and aircraft connectors. In contrast, the overall demand for IC-socket contacts,as well as for the finished socket and stripproduct lines was slightly decreasing. It’s easy to draw a lesson from this situation. In the world of technology things move fastand innovation is just another word for normality. In this spirit, ISO14001 certificationhas been obtained in March last year andright now we are about to launch the productionof the first lines of lead free products.Needless to say that our productioncapacity for MIL contacts is presently beingincreased, in order to respond to the growingdemand and, simultaneously, to becomemore competitive.Technology, however, is only one facet ofthe situation. Markets are extensively influencedby political and social factors. In addition, natural or man-made disasters or epidemiescan have a strong impact on economy. Moreover, in Europe, with ten new membersand an important potential for migration ofworkforce or even production units, thereare many unanswered questions.Even though the capital markets havemoney to invest, the interest rates are lowand the stock exchange tends upward –economy seems to hesitate. Leading industrialcountries have found back to growthand one should think that all the lights aregreen for a general upswing. On the otherhand, there are enough unsolved problemsin the globalised environment to leave roomfor a considerable amount of incertitude...When I said that innovation ist just anotherword for normality, I should have added thatthe same goes for incertitude. But, after all,we have to, and we can, live with it. The bestway to move forward in spite of all obstaclesis to rely on safe values: flexibility, fastresponse, quality, competitivity... The goal,in one word is and stays: customer satisfaction.Under all circumstances.Sincerely,Pierre Lehmann, CEONB: After 16 years of successful activity,Jean-Paul Donzé has resigned from hisposition as Director of Sales and Marketing. He has decided to leave the world of connectorbusiness to go on early retirement andto spend his time on personal projects. I’dlike to express my gratitude to Jean-Pauland whish him all the best and satisfactionwith his new life.I also welcome Alain Bourderau, 34, whohas already taken over.
