<strong>United</strong> <strong>Way</strong> 211 is an easy to<br />
remember, three digit number that<br />
provides free information and referral<br />
to health and human service agencies<br />
within Lee, Hendry, and Glades<br />
Counties. Clients as well as businesses<br />
and human service agencies can<br />
call and receive information and<br />
referrals appropriate to their needs.<br />
In 2010, the total call volume for<br />
<strong>United</strong> <strong>Way</strong> 211<br />
was 52,640 calls<br />
for human service help.<br />
In addition, the 211 website had<br />
over 42,000 hits<br />
seeking information.<br />

Finding Help<br />
Every hour of every day, someone in our<br />
community needs human services... from fi nding<br />
an after-school program, to counseling for a teen,<br />
or securing adequate care for an aging parent.<br />
When people don’t know where to turn, <strong>United</strong><br />
<strong>Way</strong> 211 helps people navigate their way through<br />
the maze of health and social service agencies by<br />
providing information on resources specifi c to the<br />
client’s situation.<br />
Storm Information Hotline<br />
During times of natural disasters such as<br />
hurricanes, <strong>United</strong> <strong>Way</strong> 211 becomes the Storm<br />
Information Hotline for Lee and Hendry Counties<br />
offering information on shelters, evacuation<br />
routes, and recovery services.<br />
Feeding Programs<br />
<strong>United</strong> <strong>Way</strong> 211 collaborated with over 20<br />
partners including the Harry Chapin Food Bank,<br />
CCMI, and The Salvation Army to provide Free<br />
Food Fridays during the summer months. Over<br />
782 families and 3,096 individuals were served<br />
at seven different locations.<br />
A monthly food distribution in LaBelle and Moore<br />
Haven was established in partnership with the<br />
Harry Chapin Food Bank and The Salvation Army.<br />
A weekly breakfast program to feed the hungry<br />
and homeless was established in LaBelle.<br />
