The state government has directed theinstitutes to admit such students.IT was not listed under Directorate of TechnicalEducation (DTE) as a vocational subject despite itbeing listed in the All India Council for TechnicalEducation (AICTE) vocational subject list.Admitting the delay in recognising IT as a vocationalsubject for first year engineering admissions, ministerfor technical and higher education Rajesh Tope said,“There was some confusion over it and thus the delayhappened.”Speaking to DNA, Tope said, “Actually, there weretwo strong viewpoints regarding the inclusion andexclusion of the subject for FE (first year engineeringadmissions).
