Requirements for EnrollingStudentsTo register a student* in the <strong>Vestavia</strong><strong>Hills</strong> <strong>City</strong> School System, the followingitems must be presented in person bya parent or legal guardian. Registerstudents at their school site.1. Social Security card2. Blue Alabama immunization form3. Certified birth certificate4. Current and valid lease, warrantydeed, settlement statement,mortgage statement, or currentproperty tax notice5. A utility bill in your name for thecurrent month showing residenceproperty address6. One other item that ties you toyour residence:--proof of residency from theCounty Registrar of Voters--current vehicle registrationshowing residence address--one other bill mailed to you atyour residence address--a cancelled check in yourname for the current month showingresidence property address7. If legal custody of a child is splitbetween two parents, you mustattach a copy of the court orderidentifying each parent’s respectiveaward of physical custody*with the exception of EnglishLanguage Learners (ELL)School District Website: www.vestavia.k<strong>12</strong>.al.usPrograms for Exceptional Children<strong>Vestavia</strong> <strong>Hills</strong> <strong>City</strong> Board of Education is committed, throughIDEA 2004, to identify, locate, and evaluate children, agesbirth through 21, who regardless of the severity of theirdisability, need special education and related services. ChildFind applies to children who attend public and private schoolswithin the <strong>Vestavia</strong> <strong>City</strong> limits, including children attendingreligious schools, highly mobile children with disabilities (i.e.migrant and homeless) and children who are suspected ofhaving a disability and are in need of special education eventhough they are advancing from grade to grade.Early intervention agencies and Public School SpecialEducation Services work closely with community serviceagencies and parents to locate children with disabilities frombirth through age 21. Child Find is a statewide effort by theAlabama State Department of Education and theDepartment of Rehabilitation Services to locate children withdisabilities from birth to age 21.
