President’sMessageBill KramerThe High Holidays, Sukkot and SimhatTorah are special times of the year. DuringRosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, we reflec<strong>to</strong>n our personal affairs and contemplate howwe can improve ourselves for the comingyear. Sukkot and Simhat Torah enable us <strong>to</strong>enjoy the sukkah and celebrate as we renewour commitment <strong>to</strong> study the Torah again.Most importantly, we get <strong>to</strong> spend meaningfultime with friends and reconnect withothers we may have not seen in awhile. It’sjust a great time of year.But, just because the majesty andexcitement of the holidays are behind usdoesn’t mean that things s<strong>to</strong>p around the planning a terrific night of food, drink, gaming,synagogue. The Ann Newman Preschoolraffles, silent auction and other sur-and the religious school are now in full prises. You won’t want <strong>to</strong> miss a partyswing. Plus, we have lots of events comingup that should be wonderful. There are twoin particular that I am anxiously anticipating.organized by these terrific party planners.As in past years, this event will beincredibly fun for all ages.Finally, the incredible <strong>Guess</strong> Who’s<strong>Coming</strong> <strong>to</strong> Shabbas dinners will becontinuing all year long. It’s something thateveryone is talking about. The excitementsurrounding this program has been fabulous.Don’t be shy about offering your home for ameal, or being a guest. Your will enjoy afabulous Shabbas.First, our Scholar-in-Residence weekendis coming up on November 2 and 3. Theadult education committee has invited Dr.Tom Friedmann, a professor <strong>from</strong> StateUniversity of New York, <strong>to</strong> discuss Jewishhumor and what it tells us about our culture.The Rabbi Sidney Greenberg Scholar-in-Residence program is the gem of oureducation programs each year. I am surethis year will prove <strong>to</strong> be terrific as well.Then, in December we will be able <strong>to</strong>enjoy Hanukah with a fabulous party,Please hold Saturday December 15 th for ourCasino Night – Latkes and Vodka. Ourcommittee, led by Freda Pepper, Jill Ladov,Janet Isaacman and Samuel Domsky areFinally, I want <strong>to</strong> thank everyone whodonated <strong>to</strong> the Annual Appeal andvolunteered for the Mitzvah Appeal. It isnever <strong>to</strong>o late <strong>to</strong> donate or volunteer, feelfree <strong>to</strong> contact the office if you have beenunable <strong>to</strong> participate yet, and wish <strong>to</strong> do so.3
