The SCROLL of <strong>Phi</strong> <strong>Delta</strong> <strong>Theta</strong> jor <strong>No</strong>vem,ber, \9'il"Cappy" Williams saw to it that conventiondetails clicked. Luncheon followed andthen convention sessions started on theirfour-day experience of being sandwichedbetween convention entertainments.The opening convention session was attendedby the ladies, more of whom perhapsattended this convention than for manyyears. Edward "Cappy" Williams as conventionchairman presided. Daniel A. Millett,president of the Denver Alumni Club,welcomed the delegates on behalf of theColorado <strong>Phi</strong>s, while Dr. Joseph C. Nate,Grand Historian and Grand Tribune ofS X, brought greetings from the MiamiTriad.Responses to the welcome were madeby Judge W. R. Bayes of the GeneralCouncil; William H. Bremner, Minneapolis,on behalf of the alumni clubs, and byC. A. L. Johnstone, Jr., Alabama Alpha,on behalf of the undergraduates. The businesssession under President Haas followedimmediately.This and other convention sessions wereheld in the casino, a short walk from thehotel. The auditorium was draped withFraternity and national colors and the bannersof more than half the chapters. Thehotel itself was decorated, dining room,lobby, and other first floor rooms, with theflags of many of the colleges at which theFraternity has chapters. One of the strikingdecorative features was the "coveredwagon" silhouettes which not only addedcolor to the picture but whetted the covetousnessof the souvenir hunter. Many ofthem doubtless hang in dormitory rooms atthis moment.Before the evening session of the conventionthe crowds "stood by" to witnessin front of the hotel an "Old Timer Cele-The General Council, 1930-32, and the Executive SecretaryLett lo Tight: Ruby, Clark, Banta, Haas, Bayes, Priest.
