110* “Let*the*little*children*come*to*me…”*But*should*we*baptise*them?**many*ways*from*serving*refreshments*afterwards,*to*helping*with*the*public*address*system,*to*playing*a*musical*instrument,*to*helping*with*childcare.*It*is*appropriate*to*give*growing*responsibilities*and*opportunities*for*service*without* the* weighty* responsibilities* or* holding* the* power* of* the* keys,* or*even*drinking*judgment*upon*oneself.*My*hope*is*that*by*delaying*baptism*until*adulthood*the*discipleship*of*children* will* be* less* burdensome,* and* the* coming* to* baptism* and* church*membership*will*be*more*meaningful*for*the*one*who*is*old*enough*to*be*incorporated* into* the* body* of* the* church* will* all* its* privileges* and*responsibilities,* and* see* them* not* as* a* burden,* but,* like* the* groom* on* his*wedding*night,*as*a*long*anticipated*privilege*now*enjoyed.*******
