The Sacrament of Baptism 

The Sacrament of Baptism is normally celebrated on the 

second Sunday of each month. A Parent Preparation Program 

is required for first time parents. New parents 

should register for the Baptism as soon as possible after 

the child’s birth by contacting the Parish Office.

Some people wait until the end of summer to put in a 

“catch-up” envelope for the Sundays they might have 

been away. The “Way of Stewardship” is NOT to 

“catch-up” after everything has been used for vacation 

but to give from the “first fruits.” Why not consider 

“catching up” before you leave for vacation as an act 

of gratitude to God for all you have been given.

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is “a 

gradual process that takes place within the community 

of the faithful.” The length of time of the process varies 

according to individual need, experience, readiness 

and commitment. If you, or someone you know is

Re-Registration has begun for the 2012 – 2013 

Religious Education Program. Please send or drop off 

your registrations as soon as possible. Re-registration 

materials were sent to each family who had a child in 

the program this year. If you did not receive this

If you need to register a child going into the first grade 

or have recently moved into the area, now is the time 

to register for the 2012-2013 Religious Education

Triduum, Services in honor of St. Anne and 

St. Joachim: 

Monday July 23 through Thursday, July 26. 

St. Michael Parish in Cranford will be conducting the annual 

Triduum in honor of St. Anne and St. Joachim, the parents of 

Mary and Grandparents of Jesus. On Monday night, a 

candlelight procession with the Icon of these saints will 

proceed the Evening Prayer Service in their honor. On 

Tuesday and Wednesday nights the Triduum will continue 

with a Prayer Service each evening; All services on these 

nights will begin at 7:p.m. 

On Thursday, July 26, the feast of St. Anne and st. Joachim, 

in addition to the 7am and 12 noon Masses, there will be 

special Feast Day Liturgy conducted at 7pm. 

Candles are available at the Parish Center for the candle light 

procession and Triduum, Shrine. If you would like to obtain 

one or for more information about the above listed services

HOLY SPIRIT SOUP KITCHEN MINISTRY 

Jesus said to his disciples: My heart is moved with pity for 

the crowd… He took seven loaves and a few small fish, 

blessed them and distributed them. About 4,000 people 

ate their full.

As you may know, Holy Spirit sponsors two teams of volunteers 

who purchase, cook, and serve 200 hot meals at St. Joseph’s 

Social Service Center in Elizabeth the fourth Saturday of every 

other month. We’ve been serving in this ministry for over 25 

years through the generous financial support of others. To 

continue our efforts to feed our hungry neighbors, The Holy Spirit 

Soup Kitchen Team will sponsor its annual LOAVES AND FISHES 

fund drive on the weekend of July 28 and 29. Your generosity will 

make it possible for us to continue our efforts to provide hot meals to 

those who come to the soup kitchen. Please put your donation in a 

“Loaves and Fishes” envelope and place it in the regular collection or 

give it to one of the priests or deacons at the end of Mass on that 

weekend. 

As important as the financial support is, it’s equally important to 

have volunteers willing to go to St. Joe’s on the designated Saturdays to 

serve those who come to eat. The team is always looking for volunteers 

interested in participating in this ministry three times each year. If 

you’re willing to make this commitment to serve the hungry or have
