Ourpresence in southern Africa dates back many decades, and today wecan proudly say that our organisation in this area is second to none. Our new common logo for Scania Southern Africa consists of Angola,Botswana, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania,Zambia and Zimbabwe. Behind this logo stands an united organisationdedicated to supporting our Scania customers wherever they arein this vast area, with more than 30 workshops located throughoutthe southern African region. The economic crisis which has affected the majority of industrialisedcountries around the globe can now be felt in our part of the world, asour customers struggle to finance their operations. During this situation,we at Scania, as well as our Scania customers, are very fortunateto have a partner who can stand behind us through these tough timesfor the financing of your Scania vehicles – Scania Finance SouthernAfrica. Our investment plans for the future remain unchanged and withina couple of months we will have two new workshops in operationin South Africa, in Pretoria and Beaufort West. In addition, the newMwansa Scania workshop in Tanzania was inaugurated in January.Recently our vehicle assembly plant in Aeroton has been upgradedto double capacity, and our new central parts warehouse is nowalso in full operation. This will empower us in meeting the increaseddemand for buses prior to the Soccer World Cup 2010, and to furtherexpand our business in southern Africa. The first bus order destined for Johannesburg’s BRT system wasrecently awarded to Scania, of which we are justifiably proud. We arewell prepared to play a major part in the development of a new publictransport era in South Africa. So despite what happens in our markets, business goes on as usual, and it is important that we stick to our long-term goals and continuefull steam ahead.Opinions expressed in Scania Revolutions are not necessarily those of the publication or the publisher.Permission to republish any article or image, or part thereof, must be obtained from the publisher in writing. While precautions have been taken to ensure the accuracy of information and advice contained withinthe pages of Scania Revolutions, neither the editor, proprietor, publisher or Scania SA accepts any liabilitywhatsoever arising out of, or in connection with, the contents of the publication.Copyright Future Publishing (Pty) Ltd.Enjoy this issue of Scania Revolutions!Christoffer LjungnerManaging Director
