Having been on two missiontrips, it is there that she fell in love with the Haitian and Dominican people. With two more trips planned in the next twelve months, she is on a mission. It matters not whether she is distributing food, building shelters, playingstreet ball, or just loving on kids – she intends to make a difference. When her aunt shared a corporate challenge with her, Halston’s heart andmind went to work. The corporate challenge was to make something big outof $100.00. Being a baller herself, she recognized that having a ball is likegold to a Haitian child. She also knew that her former coach had a connectionwith a sports store, and just maybe she could get a good deal on $100worth of balls. When she approached him, he matched her $100 and went towork on finding a discount supplier. As others heard about her challenge, they threw in a $100. After doing the math she realized that if just 40 peoplegave $100 she would have enough to buy 10,000 balls. Her hope is to provide these balls to missionary teams who have travelingsports camps and vacation Bible schools in Haitian and Dominican villages, and that every child can take home a ball of their own. So like the fishes andthe loaves, she trusts that God will multiply that $100 through donationsenough to provide 10,000 balls ready for deployment. To be a part of the 10,000 Ball Challenge, tax deductible contributions inany amount can be sent to Crosspoint Alliance Church at 855 RothrockRoad, Akron, Ohio 44312. Please mark in Memo section: “10,000 BallChallenge.” The deadline to participate is August 30, 2012.6 THE LINKTo follow Halston’s progress and hear more about her story,go to www.10000haitianballchallenge.wordpress.com.
