Police Activities Leagueyouth direCTOrs Program (ydC)Monday through Friday, 3-7pmThe Oxnard PAL Youth Directors Council’s mission is toempower our community with the skills necessary to pursuea higher education and to help create a positive and strongcommunity through youth involvement.Oxnard PaL All-City BandOxnard Recreation and <strong>Community</strong> Services incooperation with the Oxnard Police Activities League(PAL) is offers an exciting music program for young peoplefrom grade school to college. Instruction is provided by Mr.Fundi Legohn, Band Director at Oxnard High School.Music lessons are in investment in children’s futuresas students not only have fun with music, but see theiracademic test scores improve and their social skills develop.Students, from beginners to advanced, may enroll atanytime for one-month sessions. Classes are Monday,Tuesday and <strong>We</strong>dnesday 4:30pm-6:30pm in room 108 atPAL.Classes 1 & 2 are beginning classes. Students maystart on a new instrument, learning from the verybeginning in Class 1. As the students progress, theywill move to Class 2 to continue advancing.Classes 3 & 4 are intermediate level classes.Students who have played an instrument for aboutone year will attend these classes.Classes 5 & 6 are advanced classes. These studentsusually have about three or more years of musicinstruction, and are typically high school students.Classes 7 & 8 are for highly advanced students whoare still playing music after high school, typicallycollege students up to age 21.All classes will teach musical skills, leadership, teamwork,critical thinking skills, ear training, physical exercise,importance of academics, and marching skills. There is alsoa beginning band, intermediate band, and advanced bandconnected to this program. Instruction includes two classesper week (e.g. Level 1 class on Monday with beginningband practice on <strong>We</strong>dnesday).Oxnard PAL All-City Band at the Oxnard Police ActivitiesLeague, 250 South K St., Rooms 108-109 in the 2-storybuilding next to the gymnasium.KEEPIN’ IT REEL Video PROGRAMMonday through Friday, 3-7pmKeepin’ it Reel The Oxnard PAL Keepin’ it Reel program’smission is to educate youth ages 14-18 in all aspects ofvideo production through script writing, the filmingprocess, and video editing focusing on various teen issuessuch as graffiti, gang violence, etc.doNatIoNSYour tax-deductable contributions of monies, goods orservices are needed and are sincerely appreciated.
