Almost a homecoming
It felt like a homecoming for
39 Keppelites even though it
was probably the first time
many of them stepped foot
on Singapore.
Hailing from various overseas
business units, they were
participants of the Keppel
Group Human Resources’
third annual Global Young
Leaders Programme.
Held from 2 to 11 October
2008, the programme is part
of the Group’s Talent
Management initiative which
aims to hone the leadership,
strategic thinking and
management skills of
Keppelites.

The group orientation gave
the participants an
opportunity to interact and
network with each other
though team building
activities.
In project groups, they
worked on assignments
which were presented to
senior management at the
end of the programme. The
topics included ‘finance for
non-finance managers’,
‘building effective teams and
‘creative thinking’.
The activities also aimed at
increasing knowledge about
the Group’s businesses
and competencies, while
providing an avenue for
them to build camaraderie
with their overseas
counterparts and colleagues.
Su Rongrong from Keppel’s
Beijing Representative Office
said, “I appreciate the
opportunity to get to know
Keppelites from all over the
world as it gives me a
sense of belonging to a really
big family. Personally, I
have benefited from
the programme by having
gained a wider perspective
and a global mindset.
“The young managers
who participated in this

It was very interesting to see
and understand the different
approaches while doing our
projects together.”
As part of their introduction
to Singapore, they were
brought onboard the
Singapore Flyer, the world’s
largest observation wheel,
where they had the chance
to take a panoramic view of
Singapore’s breathtaking
