Bitkom is the voice of the IT, telecommunications<br />
and new media industry in <strong>Germany</strong>. The<br />
organisation represents more than 1200<br />
companies, 900 of which are members.<br />
Bitkom has a seat on the executive board of<br />
EICTA (European Information, Communications<br />
and Consumer Electronics Technology Industry<br />
Associations).<br />

It provides a new legal framework for<br />
telecommunications and the media.<br />
eco – the German Internet Business Association<br />
represents and supports all enterprises that make<br />
commercial use of the Internet. It represents<br />
companies in the political process, encourages<br />
communication among market participants and<br />
supports the marketing of their products.<br />
eco‟s main activities are clustered around topics<br />
such as: infrastructure and technology, content,<br />
applications, as well as legal and regulatory<br />
matters, each of which is assigned to an<br />
individual member of the board.<br />
The Association of Telecommunications and<br />
Value-Added Service Providers (VATM) represents<br />
more than 70 telecommunications and<br />
multimedia companies active in the German<br />
market. The majority of VATM members are<br />
subsidiaries of, or affiliated with European and<br />
overseas service providers.<br />
VATM supports a working group on safety and<br />
data protection.<br />
The Association for Electrical, Electronic and<br />
Information Technologies (VDE) represents over<br />
33 000 individual members, including a broad<br />
spectrum of engineers, scientists, technicians and<br />
some 5 000 students. In addition, 1 250<br />
corporate and institutional members represent<br />
major German enterprises of the electrical,<br />
electronic and information technology industry,<br />
electrical utilities, federal authorities and<br />
institutions.<br />
