7.0 Service InstructionsNote — z/<strong>VM</strong> Express UsersIf you installed z/<strong>VM</strong> Version 4 Release 1.0 using the Express Installation and Service Procedure, youneed to use the service instructions documented in either: the z/<strong>VM</strong> Express Installation and Service Procedures pamphlet (provided with the z/<strong>VM</strong>:Installation Guide), or Appendix I, “Service Instructions — z/<strong>VM</strong> Express Users Only” on page 109to install preventive (RSU) or COR service on a z/<strong>VM</strong> Express system.This section describes the method by which <strong>TCP</strong>/<strong>IP</strong> for z/<strong>VM</strong> is serviced; it provides step-by-stepprocedures to install corrective (COR) and preventive service for <strong>TCP</strong>/<strong>IP</strong> for z/<strong>VM</strong>, using <strong>VM</strong>SES/E.Preventive service for <strong>TCP</strong>/<strong>IP</strong> for z/<strong>VM</strong> is delivered via a Recommended Service Upgrade (RSU) tape.To become more familiar with service using <strong>VM</strong>SES/E, read the introductory chapters in: z/<strong>VM</strong>: <strong>VM</strong>SES/E Introduction and Reference (GC24-5997)This publication also contains command syntax for the <strong>VM</strong>SES/E commands cited throughout theseinstructions.Each step of these service instructions must be followed. Do not skip any step unless directedotherwise.Throughout these instructions, the use of <strong>IBM</strong>-supplied default minidisk addresses and user IDs isassumed. If different user IDs, minidisk addresses, or SFS directories are used to install <strong>TCP</strong>/<strong>IP</strong> for z/<strong>VM</strong>in your environment, adapt these instructions as needed.Note!The sample console output presented throughout these instructions was produced on a z/<strong>VM</strong> Version4 Release 1.0 system; this output reflects an installation environment in which default values (PPF andcomponent names, user IDs,7.1 <strong>VM</strong>SES/E Service Process OverviewA brief description of the steps required to service <strong>TCP</strong>/<strong>IP</strong> for z/<strong>VM</strong>, using <strong>VM</strong>SES/E, follows: Merge Existing Service — The <strong>VM</strong>FMRDSK command is used to clear the alternate apply diskbefore receiving new service.
