30 A guide to business continuity planningThe Work Plan is a tool that will be used daily to communicate to the assignedplan administrator (the staff member assigned to the project and the one who willmaintain the plan) where we are in the process and what steps are coming next.The steps need not necessarily be followed in sequential order, but all steps mustbe accounted for by the end of the project. The Work Plan is an invaluable tool forkeeping the project on track.THE PROPOSALNow that the Pre-engagement Questionnaire and the Work Plan have been completed,from the data gathered and the Work Plan created you can assign hours tothe tasks required for completion of the BCP. By converting hours into billablehours, you can determine a reasonable fee to charge the client. All the componentsare now available for the preparation of the Proposal. Below is a template proposalthat is suited to the information that has been gathered.A note of caution: ensure that the deliverables mentioned will in fact be delivered.One of the greatest hazards to a consulting firm is that of not being paid bythe client.
