Dear Adults, dear children,
if we children think about future then we think about
two main crises: The Poverty Crisis with 30.000
children dying of starvation every single day in an
incredible rich world. The Climate Crisis with one
small part, the rich part of the world exhausting the
most of the CO 2 and the poor part of the world, the
one´s that already suffer, will suffer even more in the
future.
We know that adults know exactly what challenges
we have and they know the solutions to these
challenges. We children often discussed why there
is so little action and we ended with three possible
reasons for this:
1. For most adults future seems to mean 20, 30 or
even 40 years. But for us children 2100 is still in our
lifetime. For adults it´s an academic question if the
sea level will rise for 1, 2 or 3 cm or 7 meters until
the end of this century. But for many of us children it
is a question of survival.
2. Many adults seem to hide behind the climate
skeptics the ones that say there is no climate crisis.
We children also often discussed about that topic.
But for all these people we have an answer: If we
follow the scientists that tell us there is a crisis and
if we act and in 20 years we fi nd out that they were
wrong, then we didn´t do any mistake. But if we
follow the skeptics and don´t do anything and in
20 years we will fi nd out that they were wrong it is
too late for us to save our future.
3. If you let a monkey choose if he wants one banana
now and six bananas later, the monkey always
chooses the one banana now.
We children understood we cannot trust that the
adults alone will save our future. We have to take
our future in our own hands. To do that we children
often made consultations, we often discussed what
we have to do. And in our most recent consultation
we asked ourselfes what would we do if we were
the heads of governments and we ended with a very
simple three-point-plant:
1. Carbon into the museum. We have to go down to
zero emissions until 2050. And the great thing about
this is that all the technology we need for zero emissions
already exists.
2. Bring poverty to the museum through climate justice.
We have to accept that if we don´t want to go
over the 2°C limit than we have a limited budget of
CO 2 we can exhaust. This, we have to accept. This
budget of CO 2 we can still emit is 600 billion tons.
So 600 billion tons CO 2 divided by the next 40 years
and divided by the world population which will soon
be 10 billion people equals 1.5 to CO 2 -budget per
year and per person. Who wants more, pays more to
the ones that exhaust less.
3. Let´s plant a trillion tress until 2020.
The US-Americans made it to the moon in ten years.
The Chinese planted 2,7 billion trees in 2009 and
to be honest a trillion trees is only 150 trees per
person. 1
In summer 2009, some of us had the chance to meet
Wael Abbas. He publishes the most visited blog in
Egypt. We learned how the young people connected
each other by social networking over many years.
Today, the young people in the Arabic world get rid
of the prevailing wrong systems that have been there
for many decades. Just as these young people in
the Arabic world, we children all over the world have
to join together and collectively get rid of this wrong
global system before it has completely destroyed our
future.

If some children plant a few trees,
the single tree may not effect anything, but when
the children get together all over the world and
plant trees, we can change the world.
TREE BY TREE – NOW WE CHILDREN SAVE THE WORLD
Plant-for-the-Planet - starting with a lecture in school
and becoming a worldwide student initiative and international
movement.
Much has happened since the student initiative in
2002 developed from a lecture at school by Felix
who fi nished with the words: ‘Let us plant 1 million
trees in every country of the world’. In the meantime
our student initiative has become a worldwide movement
– which is important as there are no frontiers
when it comes to the climate crises.
Our success of the past years shows that we will
only be successful if we tackle the global challenges
together. Everybody can do something and only as a
global family we are able to solve the global problems.
We children have already started.
One million trees in every country of the world –
every tree is a symbol for climate justice.
We children plan to plant one million trees in every
country around the world. Trees are natural carbon
sinks, which can help us in our fi ght against the
climate crises. Besides these, trees are our symbols
for climate justice. Since 2007, numerous planting
initiatives have taken place and on May 4th 2007 we
planted the millionth tree in Germany. Children all
over the world are supporting us. Also during COP16
in Cancun, children from Mexico joined us and
planted with the motto: ‘Stop talking. Start planting.’

One million ambassadors for climate justice in
worldwide academies until 2020.
By 2020, we want to motivate children in 20.000
Plant-for-the-Planet Academies to engage as Am-
bassadors for Climate Justice for our future. In our
academies, we address topics like climate crises,
distributive justice and global citizenship. With our
academies we are able to create a worldwide network
of active children organizing planting initiatives
as Ambassadors for Climate Justice, giving lectures
and motivating children to take part.
• So far, over 75 academies have taken place in
China, Germany, UK, France, Italy, Mexico, Austria,
Poland and in the USA.
• More than 3.000 children are active as Ambassadors
for Climate Justice.
In 2011, at least 60 academies are planned. Children
in Azerbaijan, Belgium, Lesotho, Liechtenstein,
Netherlands, Norway, Spain, South Africa, Tanzania
and other countries are starting their education.
An international network refl ecting the distribution of
the global population.
We children account for the biggest part of the
global population and it is about our future. In 2009,
children from 56 countries joined our student initiative
during the UNEP Children Conference in South
Corea.
In the meantime children in more than 90 countries
are part of our global network – and every day more
children join. We get interlinked worldwide.
We spread our idea throughout the world. Our campaign,
book, awards …
Our campaign is spreading our message into the
world. More than 200 heads of government, Nobel
Prize Winners and celebrities are already suppor-
ting us. ‘Stop talking. Start planting.’

21 children wrote the book ‘Tree
by Tree – Now we children save the
world’ to spread our vision of climate justice. We
are translating it into all languages around the world
and are offering it as PDF Download for free.
Adults feel it is really important what we are doing.
This is why we have been awarded many awards in

THE WORLD BELONGS INTO THE HANDS OF CHILDREN Adults say: “Children are the future”
– but if we don´t have any future,
what remains to us?
In our initiative and our foundation children call the
shots!
It is the objective of our Children Initiative that we
the children empower a million of other children
until 2020 to also become Ambassadors for Climate
Justice.
Every year we are going to elect our Global Board.
Our initiative is a registered society seated in Germany.
However, everybody can join us, independent
from nationality and age. This means also adults
and even small children can join. However, only
children aged 8 to 14 are entitled to vote. In our
initiative, children perceive themselves as a world
family, as global citizens. In contrast to adults, who
have been discussing longer than we are alive who
should do the fi rst step in the climate crisis, we
children simply tackle the problem together.
Via our democratic structure, we hope to strengthen
our international network and concentrate our
power.
The local initiatives are the most important active
unities within Plant-for-the-Planet. They decide independently
and act on their own authority. Among
all initiatives, the seven most successful ones will
be selected via clearly defi ned criteria. They will
appoint one of their members into the Global Board.
The other seven children will be elected by us out of
the seven Plant-for-the-Planet regions Africa, Asia-
Pacifi c, China, India, Latin America & the Caribbean,
Eastern Europe and Western Europe including USA,
Canada and Australia.
The constitutive Global Board 2011/2012 will consist
out of 14 children coming from 8 countries.
The children of the Global Board will guide the
activities of the Children Initiative by supporting
the local initiatives in their work via consultation.
Besides, we are responsible for the planning and
execution of the annual plan. Together, we decide
on general strategies and values of our organization
and determine the annual priorities. To the outside,
we the Global Board, represents the worldwide
organization and speaks to media and the general
public on behalf of all members and local initiatives.
On July 1st of each year the member of the Global
Board will pass on the leadership of the initiative to
the next generation of Plant-for-the-Planet children.
A re-election is not possible.
Our Global Board consists of 14 children and on
adult who is necessary for certain task like fi nancial
and legal issues where you need to be of legal age.
Only this adult will be determined by other adults.
He/she will be a member of the Plant-for-the-Planet
foundation.
The Plant-for-the-Planet foundation, founded in
January 2010, is consulted by a Children and Youth
Council.
The foundation is a partner organization of the
registered society and supports the initiative in the
organization and the funding of the activities. The
foundation is making arrangements with national
and worldwide partners from the industry and institutions.

Besides poverty, climate change is the topic
which worries children and teenagers the most.
3/4 of all children and teenagers perceive
climate change and poverty to be the biggest
global challenges.
2/3 of all children and teenagers think that the
changing climate endangers the existence of
mankind.
Nearly 80% think that a stronger engagement
of the society is the driving force in a process
of changing the behaviour.

EVERYBODY CAN HELP ‘STOP PLANTING. START TALKING.’
Save the world together with us children – come
join us in planting!
Plant on site, with your employees, their children,
with schools in your neighbourhood! Organize a
planting initiative, invite Climate Justice Ambassadors
to give a lecture and plant together with us, the
children.
Every tree will take 3 tons of CO 2 out of the atmosphere
until it is fully grown and acts as carbon storage.
For us children, every single tree is a symbol
for climate justice. No matter whether it takes place
in Africa, Asia, Europe or America – by planting
together we become a strong worldwide community.
Compensate your emissions and reduce your
carbon footprint: leave authentic signs with CO2
certifi cates from reforestation projects (CarbonFix
and CCBS Standard).
Also donations can help to organize planting initiatives.
Already 100€ are enough
to plant 100 trees in countries like
Malaysia, Congo or in Costa Rica,
in Namibia and in Ecuador. On a
certifi cate you can see where the
trees have been planted.
Invest into the future
We children inform in our academies about the
climate crises, distributive justice and global citizenship,
we inspire other children to also become
Ambassadors for Climate Justice. By 2020, we want
to motivate one million children in 20.000 academies
to be actively engaged. We children demonstrate
that everybody can assume responsibility and
is able to actively create our future – via organizing
planting initiatives, giving lectures and motivating
others to participate.
Become a partner and help us children to be able to
reach our goals. Organize academies in your neighbourhood
and invite children of your employees,
colleagues or clients as well as from schools. Also
try to involve other adults, your boss or colleagues
into the organization.
With a monetary donation you enable other children,
hundreds and thousands, to participate in academies.
As private person, company or institution in
certain cities, countries or worldwide.
We need your help!
Children from more than 90 countries have already
joined the initiative! We plant, organize academies
and spread our idea. Support us in our activities

For the years 2007, 2008 and 2009, when no foundation was existing,
the Global Marshall Plan Foundation generously took care of the
book-keeping and the administration of Plant-for-the-Planet. All
Plant-for-the-Planet activities are handled as own projects. In 2009
there were received donations of 195.720,13 € for the Plant-for-the-
Planet student initiative via the Global Marshall Plan Foundation.
Since January 2010 we make up the balance within our own foundation.
And the results are impressive:
2.677.670 new trees
1.141 new Climate Justice Ambassadors
31 new academies
19 new countries in our network
5 new countries organized academies
In the liabilities on 31/12/2010, there are € 240.955,10 against
Global Marshall Plan Foundation due to the common payment
handling. This amount will be fully available to the Plant-for-the-
Planet Foundation 2011.
The example of the participation in the climate summit in 2010
nicely shows how cost-effi cient we work: The planting initiative of
the environment ministers and presidents during the UN-Summit
COP16 in Cancún beginning of December 2010 was less than
€ 2.000. In return, the media reporting about the COP16 initiative
did not only motivate children in South America but worldwide
And we are sure that we have also achieved that we also inspired
the one or other adult.
Finally we want to thank our backoffi ce. Without them we would
never have achieved what we did. You did a great job.

‘The book-keeping, the profi t and loss statement in 2010 as well
as the capital account from 31.12.2010 of the Plant-for-the-Planet
foundation match after my examination the rules of a proper
fi nancial reporting, the legal requirements and the statutes. The
examination of the conservation of the foundation capital and the
use of the profi ts did not show any objections.
The amount of the tree donations is shown via donations receipts
as well as receipts from the receiving organizations.
For every € a tree was planted.’
