This is because,in some countries, it is possibleto route insulated cable intrunking.All the metallic components mustbe includedEN 50085-1 requires that allthe metallic components must beincluded in the protective measures.The manufacturers must carryout the appropriate tests and documentthem. OBO installationtrunking is also tested and certifiedby an external testing office – thatof the VDE.Testing the effectiveness by theinstallation engineersThe erecter (installation engineer)must test the effectiveness ofthe protection measure in accordancewith DIN VDE 0100 Part 610after completion. Ensure the tighteningtorque of the contact screwson the earthing terminals and theproper mounting of the couplings.Continous protection measuresIf the trunking is interrupted at awall penetration, then continuationof the protective measures is required,as, in this case, the trunkingis a foreign, conductive part,which spreads through different areasof a building.With aluminium device installationtrunking, the connection betweenthe bases is created using thecoupling. The connection betweenthe covers and the device installationtrunking is made using theself-contacting cover. This guaranteescontinuous protection withoutany additional wiring.With the LKM metal cable trunking,a connection is made between thecover and the base without an additionalearthing cable. The connectionbetween the bases is madevia the joint connector. Important:powder-coated metallic coversdo not count as mixed constructionand are thus not consideredas insulating! They shouldtherefore be included in the protectivemeasure. The sheet-steelseparating retainers are self-contacting.From the aspect of capacitivecoupling and the possible staticcoupling, the inclusion of metallicdevice installation trunking coversis included in the planning ofthe protective conductor function.The shielding measure reduceselectro-smog and generallyachieves improved EMC protection.Protective conductor connectionsshould be permanent.
