Years 8-10Wastewater InquiryWastewater is part of our everyday lives. Whenwe flush the toilet, have a shower or pull out thesink plug we are contributing to more than 250megalitres of wastewater that arrives at oneof Adelaide’s treatment plants every day.Wastewater is 99.9% water, with a small amount ofdissolved or suspended solid matter. At our treatmentplants, wastewater undergoes a multi-stage treatmentprocess to clean it before discharge or reuse. In this program students investigate the science ofwastewater treatment and discover new and innovativewastewater recycling schemes that make maximumproductive use of this wastewater includingopportunities for the use of biosolids. The workshop is an engaging hands-on experienceenabling students to answer questions about the scienceof wastewater.
