The work of the Institute for Critical Social Analysis is based on
critique – analysis and critique of the transformations in capitalism
and society. This critique focuses on practice: developing basic approaches
and central themes of socialist transformation research.
Here, the Institute for Critical Social Analysis continues in the
tradition of a critical, Marxist and feminist critique of capitalism
and domination, while at the same time picking up on both the
empirical and theoretical results of other modern social sciences.
Within this context, the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation’s IfG (Institute
for Critical Social Analysis) considers itself to be a player of
far-reaching research activities.
Founded in 2008, the IfG is active in the following areas:
n Analysis and critique of capitalism, approaches of
socio-ecological transformation, in particular of alternative
economic and property ownership
n Fundamental questions on the history of as well as present
day basic socialist currents, emancipatory left actors, their
strategies and projects
n Policy analysis and the democratic renewal of the economic
system, of the welfare state, and of ownership and power
relations
n Left strategies of the European Union’s development, of
peace and security policy and international co-operation
n Identity and difference: theoretical approaches and political,
social and cultural practices of the players of emancipatory
movements and changes in lifestyle.
The Institute seeks to develop an independent conceptual approach
and guiding principles of research on socialist transformation.
The staff invites you to join them to discuss transformational
perspectives within Germany and internationally.
