Given the continuationwith the economy, our portfolio has done as well as can beexpected.The Committee has not changed our basic policy ofmaintaining a prudent level of risk with our reserves. Whilenever satisfied with our gains compared to levels that havebeen achieved by some other more aggressive portfolios, ourconservative approach provided a positive level of return in2010. The Committee will make adjustments with the approvalof the Board of Directors and will continue to monitor ourholdings, and make further adjustments as time goes on.CHAPTER NEWSZONE 2- DAYTON PHCC- Ron Schmitt, Director16 Contractor Members /5 Associate Members3 Retired / 2 Inspectors (advisory members)Membership Efforts: We host an annual Products Show thatattracts prospective members. We also invite area contractors tothe event and recruit from this event.Member Recognition: Don Voight was recognized for hisefforts on the conjoined-twins home project.Education: We continue to make it our goal to provide at least10 CEU credits per year for members. One of our best attendedmeetings was a presentation by the Ohio State Highway Patrolon the upcoming PUCO motor carrier rules.Special Events/Community Service: Held our 5th AnnualProducts Show. Provided a kitchen and bath remodel forworld’s oldest conjoined twins. The project was featured on theTLC cable channel with some of our members appearing on theshow.Issues: Concerned about the PUCO motor carrier rules.ZONE 3- Cincinnati MPA- Brian Nieman, Director89 Contractor Members / 38 Associate MembersMembership Efforts: Continue to work with Associatemembers to recruit new members. The Chapter is offering $100for every new contractor member recruited.Member Recognition: Jim Siler, Wolverine Brass was awardedthe Herbert J. Special Events/Community Service: Annual Expo was heldin September with great success and the chapter has starteda “Helping Hands” fund to help members or employees ofmembers who suffer a loss or injury.Issues: Our apprenticeship program and membership.ZONE 5- CENTRAL OHIO PHCC- Rob Fetz, Director20 Contractor Members / 8 Associate MembersMembership Efforts: Continue to work with supply houses andother vendors to help recruit new members. Have been using theBenefit of the Month at each meeting to promote benefits.Member Recognition: Darrell Wolfe, President; RodgerSweitzer, Vice President; Mike Lauber, Sec/Treas; and TerryTrimmer, State Zone Director.Education: Speakers included: Kelly Denk, Frank Gates;Carol Ross, OCILB; Jim Noland, Sloan; Rick Moeller, Cityof Columbus; Dave Murman, Great Lake Sales; Ralph Reeb,Plumbing Division; Lisa Kennedy, BWC; Larry Caito & BITTeam, City of Columbus; Cheryl Roahrig, City of Columbus;and Lillian Lancaster, PUCO Truck Rules.Special Events/Community Service: Held our Annual Expo inDecember.Issues: Recruiting of new members.ZONE 7- AKRON PHCC- Tom Shuman, Director20 Contractor Members / 6 Associate MembersMembership Efforts: We emphasize face to face recruitmentwith fellow contractors and are working with Wholesalers tooffer a dues incentive program based on a % of sales throughoutthe year that would go towards membership fees.Member Recognition: We highlight a member at each meetinginviting them to share something about their company and thebenefits of PHCC.ZONE 6- NE OHIO MASTER PHCC- Jim Haberek, Director29 Contractor Members / 13 Associate MembersMembership Efforts: We highlight benefits of PHCC eachmonth at our chapter meetings and our speakers each month areoften recommended by our members to help with their business.Member Recognition: We now have a different member, ateach monthly meeting, tell a little about themselves and theirbusiness.Special Events /Community Service: In Sept, the NortheastOhio Master PHCC conducted water audits and minor repairsfor 80 low-income seniors and disabled adult homeowners.This was the third year of Heat & Plumb Cuyahoga County inpartnership with ACCA Cleveland.Issues: To get better organized and communicate more withour members. We send emails in between our newsletters andare answering member’s questions about responsibilities andprocedures of board members on the local and state levels.ZONE 8- PHCC OF EASTERN OHIO-9 Contractor Members / 5 Associate MembersMembership Efforts: We continue to recruit local plumberswith invitations to meetings and follow up visits. Our chapterwill be participating in Membership Drive with Akron and StarkCounty.Issues: Utilities involved with plumbing work continues to be amajor concern.ZONE 9- STARK ASSOCIATION- Rick Seifert, Director14 Contractor Members / 5 Associate MembersMembership Efforts: We continue promoting membershipand reinforcing the choice to be a member. Our chapter will beparticipating in membership drive.Membership Recognition: Member spotlight appears inmonthly newsletter.Our new officers for 2011 are: President, Tim Frecka, FreckaPlumbing; Treasurer, Chris Lee, C.
