A SUMMARY OF THE REMUNERATION PACKAGE2<strong>AusAID</strong>’s aim is to be an employer of choice offering excellent conditions ofemployment. Shown below are some of the key aspects of the remuneration packageoffered for the vacancy:Contract term - The position is ‘on-going’ (permanent) following completion of aprobation period of six (6) months.Salary - The salary range for this position is FJD$75,525 – FJD$101,070.Superannuation - <strong>AusAID</strong> will contribute 8% to the FNPF.Annual Leave - 20 days annual leave per year. In addition to this entitlement <strong>AusAID</strong>closes its <strong>Suva</strong> office between Christmas and New Year. Employees are not requiredto take leave over this period (effectively creating a 23 day recreation leaveentitlement).Personal Circumstances Leave (Sick Leave and Carer’s Leave) – Employees areentitled to 18 days personal leave.Travel – In addition to travel allowances employees are entitled to travel in BusinessClass on flights that are longer than 3 hours.Maternity Leave – 13 weeks maternity leave on full pay is available after an initialqualifying period of 5 months.Access to Adoption Leave, Parental Leave and Special Leave.Health Insurance – <strong>AusAID</strong> will pay 75% of the premium of a medical insurance planwith QBE Insurance (<strong>Fiji</strong>) Limited. This premium cover includes ‘Private HospitalExtension’ which means members will be automatically treated at private facilities,including <strong>Suva</strong> Private Hospital, without a requirement to go to CWM first. TheMedivac destination for any overseas treatment is Australia or NZ.Worker’s Compensation - <strong>AusAID</strong> enrols employees in a worker’s compensationscheme that covers the employee for illness, injury, or injury resulting in death, arisingin the course of providing services under their contract.

All staff in <strong>Suva</strong> work in a team based environment. Oversight of the <strong>Suva</strong>Post’s operations is undertaken by an A-based officer at Minister–Counsellor level.This position is supported by two A-based Counsellor level positions.


4About the RoleThe SPM <strong>Tuvalu</strong> is accountable for the management and oversight of Australia’s aidprogram to <strong>Tuvalu</strong>. You will oversee policy and strategy development, design andimplementation of programs, monitoring and quality assurance, financial andcontract management and partner and stakeholder relationship management. . Youwill lead and manage a team of 1-2 members to administrate and coordinateAustralia’s aid to <strong>Tuvalu</strong>. Regular travel to <strong>Tuvalu</strong> and Australia are part of theresponsibilities of this role.Key responsibilities of the role are:1. Oversee the <strong>Tuvalu</strong> - Australia Partnership for Development Framework- Engagement with the Government of <strong>Tuvalu</strong> and development Partners2. Oversee the development of the Annual <strong>Program</strong> Performance Review3. Oversee financial management initiatives:- <strong>Tuvalu</strong> Trust Fund- Public Financial Management Reform initiatives4. Manage the <strong>Tuvalu</strong> climate change program5. 8BACKGROUND INFORMATION - THE AUSTRALIANHIGH COMMISSION, SUVAThe Australian High Commission is located in Princes Road, Tamavua, <strong>Suva</strong>.Australia has had diplomatic representation in <strong>Fiji</strong> since 1964.The Australian High Commissioner to the Republic of the <strong>Fiji</strong> Islands is the officialrepresentative of the Australian Government in <strong>Fiji</strong>. The High Commissioner is alsoaccredited to <strong>Tuvalu</strong> and Nauru and is Australia's Permanent Representative to thePacific Islands Forum Secretariat.Australia and <strong>Fiji</strong> have strong and substantial bilateral relations and common interestsin the stability and development of the South Pacific region. The High Commission isresponsible for the advancement of Australia's interests in <strong>Fiji</strong>, including the conduct ofofficial business with the <strong>Fiji</strong> Government.
