After the new collection was established the plan had been to build thefiction collection and only purchase non-fiction books as needed or requested. Since 2007, onlyminimal purchases have been made to enhance the 200’s collection. The media committee followedselection criteria policy and made recommendations for additional purchases with this order. With allselections, efforts were made to fill gaps and search for titles that varied from the current collection.Reading level and interest were considered, with the majority of the books chosen indicating interestand reading levels appropriate for young adult readers at high school reading levels. A smallerselection of titles will accommodate struggling readers. Two eBooks were selected to provide varietyand options for students needing modified texts. Five multi-media selections add to the collection.These titles were selected because reviews and annotations indicate variations from the current DVDstock and provide new avenues for instruction.*Note: Two selections were made at costs slightly over $100 each. One is a title that covers manyreligions in the United States and religious topics which will prove its value by providing patronswith a single title containing overviews of many religions. The second is a multi-volume set thatcovers World religions with a more comprehensive scope. These purchases, although expensive, willadd both depth and scope to the 200’s collection.GPS Connections: This collection correlates to numerous Georgia Performance Standards forhigh school courses including World History, American History, Sociology, and Literaturecourses as well.
