The reconnaissance unit(s) thenreconnoiters the objective area. The reconnaissanceunit may move to several positions, perhaps making acircle around the objective area, in order to conduct athorough reconnaissance. When the reconnaissance iscompleted, the patrol leader assembles the patrol andtells members what has been observed and heard.Other patrol members contribute observations. Thepatrol then returns to friendly lines and the patrolleader makes a full report.ZoneThe patrol leader halts the patrol at the final preparationposition, confirms the plan, and conductsleader’s reconnaissance. The patrol leader positionsthe security team and sends out the reconnaissanceteam. When the entire patrol is used to reconnoiter thezone, it provides its own security. After completingthe reconnaissance, each reconnaissance team movesto the objective rally point and reports to the patrolleader. The patrol then returns to friendly lines.
