3. Stack and System Component Information1. StackIs made up of plate-like cells with air channels to allowthe flow of air across the membrane. The membranefacilitates the flow of Hydrogen creating the releaseof electrons. Electrically conductive separator platesbetween each pair of cells enable the flow of electrons.The stack aspect is that they are all placed on top of eachother and held together by epoxy endplates.2. H2 Supply and purging valvesH2 supply valve controls the H2 input. When the controllerturns on, also the H2 supply valve does. When systemturns off, it is in the off position for preventing hydrogenleakage.The purging valve purges out the water and air gasredundant in the fuel cells.3. Short Circuit UnitThe short circuit unit can be turned on or off dependingon what application the stack is to be used in. When theshort circuit unit turns on, it can enhance performance ofthe stack in applications where the stack is turned off forprolonged periods.4. On/Off SwitchIt is the switch of the controller. Hold it for 2 seconds foreither on or off.5. BlowersSupply air to the fuel cells and meanwhile decrease thetemperature in the stack.6.
