The value of collaborationCollaboration between our South America Buyout and Healthcare teams made all thedifference in Carlyle’s acquisition of a controlling stake in Grupo Qualicorp. Our geographicalreach and experience with healthcare companies such as HCR ManorCareand MultiPlan were important factors when Qualicorp decided to sell a controllingstake to Carlyle. Qualicorp is a full-service provider of health benefits managementservices in Brazil with three million clients. Carlyle will work with the company to helpit move to the next level of efficiency in providing high-quality services and bolster itsability to make acquisitions.Our Healthcare and South America Buyout teams are co-managing the investment.Working together, the teams plan to add value by enhancing Qualicorp’s corporategovernance, redesigning internal controls and procedures, adding board memberswith experience implementing growth strategies, strengthening management capabilities,and positioning the company for add-on acquisitions, among other steps.We are pleased to partner with the Qualicorp management team as we build uponthe company’s excellent growth and service track record.
