They should incorporate testimonialsand storytelling into organizational meetings regarding safety improvementsand “good catches” where vigilance prevented harm, and regularlypublish and disseminate the work of teams in creating greater reliabilityand safety.Institutions should create appreciation days, service awards, and othertraditions that honor and celebrate the workforce.Strategy 7: Support industry-wide research to design and conduct studies thatwill explore issues and conditions in health care that are harming ourworkforce and our patients.Commission cross-sectional studies of workforce and patient safety todetermine leverage points for systemic change, and engage researchers tostudy applications used in other high-risk industries.
