HDR-200 Hard Drive RecorderDISCOUNTINUEDThe Datavideo HDR-200 is a 19", rack mountable hard drive based video recorder andplayer that uses removable hard drive enclosures. It records standard and highdefinition video via SDI and component connectors, and DV and HDV via Firewireconnectors, with a convenient loop-through for monitoring. RS-232 and RS-422 remotecontrol interfaces are standard. The HDR-200 provides a choice of recording formats in MPEG-2, including 1080i, 720p,576i and 480i, with a choice of IBP or intra-frame (i-frame). The recorded files arecompatible with a wide range of NLE and play-out solutions. The compact 1U 19-inch design can be easily integrated with other equipment on OBtrucks, installations or Datavideo's Mobile Video Studio line.Once you have completed your recording, simply eject the hard drive enclosure andconnect it to a PC or Mac via USB 2.0 cable (no extra power supply required as USB2.0 provides power, perfect for laptop use in the field). You can work directly from theremovable drive or copy video files across to the NLE's video drives.CONNECTIONSVideo• Input: HD-SDI/SD-SDI, HD-YUV/SD-YUV, and HDV• Output: HD-SDI/SD-SDI, HD-YUV/SD-YUV, DV, HDV, and HDMIAudio• Input: balanced stereo mini XLR• Output: balanced stereo mini XLRVideo Recording Format• SD: 5Mbps to 15Mbps• HD: 20Mbps to 60Mbps• 4:2:0 color sampling• .M2T recording format (compatible with most NLE systems)Audio Recording Format• MPEG-1 Layer 2• Sampling rate: 48kHz• Bitrate: 384KbpsControl• GPI, RS-232, and RS-422 control interface (Sony control protocol compatible)

What channel does it reference?A: The output channels are specifically for fire wire output. Changing the fire wirechannel will allow you to avoid conflicts with other fire wire devices.Q: How do we select a track when we record? Do we select track 1? Is there atrack 0? Do we start recording if track length is 0? If the track length is greaterthan 0, then select next track and inquire again?A: The starting track number is always 1, but you can select any empty track, 1-99.Once a track has been recorded and then subsequently stopped, you will no longer beable to add more to this track. You must then select a new track number to continuerecording.Q: How many hard drive enclosures does HDR-100/200 come with? Can Ipurchase hard drive enclosures separately?A: HDR-100/200 comes with two hard drive enclosures, but with only one hard drive

installed in an enclosure. You can purchase hard drive enclosures separately and thepart number is HDD25.Q: Do you recommend any certain brands or specifications on which hard driveto use with this recorder?A: Yes, we recommend the following predications for the drive: 7200rpm 8MB buffer2.5" SATA HDD. Datavideo has tested Hitachi, Western Digital, Fujitsu for use with ourDN series recorders. We do not recommend Seagate hard drives with our recorders.Q: What is the largest hard drive does HDR-100/200 support?A: The largest hard drive capacity that HDR-100/200 supports is 500GB.Q: What does the "video input" button on the front panel do? Does this buttonjust override the internal menu for an analog video source?A: The "video input" button on the front of the recorder sets the recorder into thefollowing recording modes: either SDI/HD-SDI or Component. The default input is HDVso the video input button must be set before recording SDI/HD-SDI sources.Q: Is the "video input" button in used when cameras are hooked up to the HD-SDI"IN"?A: The input source would need to be selected once the recorder is powered on, not perrecording.Q: In my experience, unless the files are combined into one large file there will bea 1/2 frame audio drop-out where the two different files connect with each otheron the Adobe timeline. Is there something different about the HDR-100/200 so thatit would not have this same problem that other brands have?A: Datavideo DN-300, DN-400/500, HDR-100/200 are FAT32 based, which has a 2GBfile limit (approx). Clips cannot be larger than 2GB; otherwise, it will result in multiplefiles per track. The Open GOP structure of a 1080 stream requires information to becontained in a truly contiguous video/audio file. Some NLE systems do not combine them2t files when imported, so this needs to be done prior to import. Datavideo provides autility (M2T_FileCombine.exe) to combine m2t files. Here is a link to the tool:http://www.datavideo.us/drivers/M2T_FileCombine.zip.Q: How can I change the setting on the recorder so that it can record in 720p?A: The HDR-100/200 can only record 720p with HDV input source. This mode is notavailable with other input modes.Q: What is the difference between HDD25 and HDD2.5 SATA?A: HDD25 is the enclosure without a hard drive installed. HDD2.5 SATA is only the harddrive without the enclosure.Q: Which of the above is included with the HDR-100/200?A: One HDD2.5 SATA (250GB) hard drive is installed in an enclosure (HDD25) and onespare HDD25 is included with the HDR-100/200.

Q: What is the format on the recorded media in HD - MPEG-2 .mpeg or just .m2t?A: .m2t is the file format, but at various bit rates (20, 40 or 60 Mbps).Q: Does it support embedded audio?A: Yes, it supports embedded audio via HD-SDI.Q: Can the HDR-100/200 record SD MPEG signals as listed in the menu?A: YesQ: Is the I-Frame setting for SD or HD signal?A: Yes, it must apply to both signal types.Q: Is I-Frame setup only for specific editing systems?A: Yes (Note: set highest bit rate (HD: 60Mbps, SD: 15Mbps) when using I-Frame onlyto get good performance.DIMENSIONSLength 9.4 inchesWidth 18.8 inchesHeight 1.6 inchesWeight 7 poundsLength 239Width 478Height 41Weight 3.5 kgACCESSORIESS12V 4.2A DC operation 110/220 power supply and cord includedAC cord 3POne enclosure with 250GB hard driveOne empty enclosureL type rack (2 pcs)M3 X 4 m/m screws (10 pcs)2.0 X 8 m/m screws (2 pcs)HD label (2 pcs)Label (4 pcs)Instruction Manual
