Back in 1975-76 STC was called the Rutland Area VocationalSchool; Vo-tech for short. I wanted to be a woodworkerwhen I grew up, still do. A visit was the first order of things.They were making real furniture; hutches, kitchen cabinets,big projects! Compared to my earlier experiences inshop, I saw a future in woodworking. My skill level andknowledge improved to the point that I startedmaking furniture that people payed for. I was ableto succeed because we were taught more than howto work on wood. The idea of being proud of yourwork was instilled in each job.
