Chapter 4Section 3 Newton’s Second andThird Laws If two objects interact, the magnitude ofthe force exerted on object 1 by object2 is equal to the magnitude of the forcesimultaneously exerted on object 2 byobject 1, and these two forces areopposite in direction. In other words, for every action, thereis an equal and opposite reaction. Because the forces coexist, either forcecan be called the action or the reaction.
