Briennerstrasse have in particular done much to establish Munich's reputation as a
truly exclusive fashion and shopping venue.
Training and education too are woven into the fabric of Munich's fashion industry.
No fewer than three respected Munich fashion schools cultivate innovation and
encourage young designers to experiment and grow. These establishments have
already brought forth a wealth of talent.
The conspicuous local presence of the fashion press testifies to Munich's role in
the vanguard of this fast-paced industry. The editors of popular fashion journals
such as Vogue Deutschland, InStyle, Cosmopolitan and Elle are all headquartered
in the Bavarian capital.
A flourishing trade fair and order business
landscape
In recent years, two trends in the textile industry have been evolving in parallel
around the globe. One is that a small number of premier trade fairs have become
established on a relatively stable level. The other has been dynamic growth in the
order center business.
Munich has risen masterfully to the challenges facing this industry and is rapidly
emerging as the epicenter of Germany's order business. ISPO Munich an
international trade fair for sports equipment and sports fashion hosted by the New
Munich Exhibition Center, is regarded as one of the world's leading trade fairs in
this market segment. Munich fabric start (for apparel fabrics) is likewise one of
Europe's leading spring fair. As an order center too, Munich is visibly gaining in
importance. Modern new order centers in and around the city are underscoring the
Bavarian capital's position as a leading fashion venue.
