This unit develops methods to make software more reliable by deploying algebraic
specifications. Reliability is especially important in the context of applications that
are critical to safety issues. Examples include software used in the running of
nuclear power plants, in the computer-assisted control of traffic flows and in
medical applications.

This unit explores the presentation and administration of knowledge, logic-based
knowledge modeling, markup languages, semi-structured data modeling, logic and
