For production facilities and warehousing. The GEA MAXX-ERGO systemprovides a top-efficiency, combined circulation system for recuperation ofenergy in the decentral ventilation of industrial and shop-floor premises. With support from the GEA MATRIX control system, GEA MAXX-ERGOensures a maximum of cost effectiveness.MAXX-ERGO for energy recuperation[3 model sizes] [12 performance ratings][1,000 – 7,700 m³/h] [7 – 44 kW][Outdoor-air filters F7]The supply-air system with F7 filters4 PR-2009-0001-GB · We reserve the right to make changes without notice · Version 02/2009

Exhaust air contains valuable energy that should not simplybe lost in air exhausted into the surrounding environment. The systematically designed GEA MAXX-ERGO exploits thisenergy and achieves maximum efficiency by the optimisedinteraction of all system units.MAXX-ERGO for energy recuperation[3 model sizes] [continuouslyadjusted output] [1,000 – 7,700 m³/h][7 – 44 kW] [G3 exhaust-air filters]Exhaust-air system with G3 filtersPR-2009-0001-GB · We reserve the right to make changes without notice · Version 02/20095

GEA MATRIX – intelligent control technologyJust the right turn formaximum energy savingsMaximum energy optimisation, perfect comfort and convenience, operational reliability, and simple operation: these arethe key features of GEA MATRIX automatic control and monitoringfunctions. GEA MATRIX 4000 has been especiallymatched to the GEA MAXX-ERGO systemGEA MATRIX power sections that are mounted directly on theunit components, in addition to communication via a data-bussystem, minimise the costs for wiring by the facility owners andoperators. The OP51, a compact GEA MATRIX operator-control unit withdisplay, reliably visualises all operational states as a completeoperator station. The OP51 uses pictograms and menu assistance, similar to a mobile telephone, to make operator control as simpleas possible. Integration into a higher-level process controlsystem is very simply possible via digital / analogue GEA interfacemodules, or via a GEA-LON bus module.Primary functions of the GEA MATRIX 4000:Central operator control and monitoring via the GEAMATRIX OP51 operator-control unit with display; 1 controlunit is possible for several equipment groupsSelection of modes of temperature control: for roomtemperature, supply-air temperature, and room / supply-airtemperature cascadeRegulation of normal and temperature-reduction operations(e.g., night time) via an integrated timer switch and /or via external signalsPassive cooling by the flow of outdoor airAutomatic regulation of the flow of outdoor air as afunction of outdoor temperature, and according to aminimum limit for the volume of outdoor air usedControl of the flow volume of exhaust air – depending, on acontinuously variable basis, on the supply-air fan speedand the position of the mixed-air shutter flaps, in order toavoid excessive positive or negative air pressure in thebuildingRegulation of the brine flow volume for energy recuperationMaximisation of the heat-recovery efficiency by automaticallyadapting the brine flow volume to the air flow volumeIcing protection of the exhaust-air heat exchanger;automatic regulation of brine flow volumeFrost protection of the heating registers of systems withpumped hot water; reduction of the outdoor-air flowvolume and / or opening of the heating valve for pumpedhot waterAir-flow monitoring of the air filter; warning alert whenclogging of the air filter reaches a pre-determined limit6 PR-2009-0001-GB · We reserve the right to make changes without notice · Version 02/2009

The GEA MAXX-ERGO hydraulic moduleSpot-on interactionassures full successThe GEA hydraulic module is the heart of the GEA MAXX-ERGO system. This module has been ideally coordinated tothe required brine flow volume and the functions of the GEAMATRIX control system. This coordination is essential foroptimisation of heat-recovery efficiency. Selection is possiblebetween two options for the operation mode. This selectionserves for maximisation of heat-recovery efficiency and ofpartial-load control functions. The partial-load control functions automatically go intooperation if there is danger of room overheating (as a result ofthe high efficiency of the energy-recuperation process), or ifthe exhaust-air heat exchanger must be protected from icing. The brine flow volume is automatically matched to themomentary air flow volume in order to maximise the recuperatedenergy. Continuous optimisation takes place of thetemperature difference between the brine flow volume and theair flow volume. The GEA hydraulic module is equipped with all componentsrequired for reliable and safe operations.Schematic of the combined circulation systemChange-over valveExpansion tankVentingOutdoor airExpelled airVentingVentingGEAPipe-section regulation valveGEAMultiMAXXRoofJETTSupply airDrainMixing valveGEA hydraulic moduleDraining + fillingDrainingExhaust airPressure gaugeSafety valvePumpPR-2009-0001-GB · We reserve the right to make changes without notice · Version 02/20097
