Arrive in Agra airportat 1600 hours and check into The Oberoi Amarvilas.In the evening enjoy a 2 hour ‘Touch of Serenity’ spa program.Dinner is at Esphahan, the Indian speciality restaurant featuringa display kitchen and live classical music.Overnight at the resort.The Taj Mahal, AgraDay 8 AgraEarly morning visit to the Taj Mahal.The Taj Mahal, built in white marble by Emperor Shahjahan as amausoleum for his queen Mumtaz Mahal, is a universal symbol of love.This magnificent monument is best enjoyed in the early morning hours.Return to the hotel for breakfast at Bellevue, the multi-cuisinerestaurant.Later visit the Agra Fort.In the 16th and 17th centuries, at the time of the Mughals, Agra wasthe capital of India. Construction of Agra Fort was originally startedby Emperor Akbar in 1565, but his son, Jahangir, and grandson,ShahJahan, later made additions. Experts arguethat Fatehpur Sikri is the greatest accomplishment of Mughal architecture,surpassed only in reputation but not in its beauty by the Taj Mahal.The cultural politics of the site remain to be written; perhaps themammoth chess board, where human figures were used as chess piecesand moved at the emperor’s will, provides a clue.Enjoy a picnic lunch on your way back to The Oberoi Amarvilas.In the afternoon transfer to Agra airport to board your flightfor Delhi departing at 1750 hours.
