The Wadsworth Atheneum offers a
monthly evening program with our galleries
open to the public. First Thursdays
feature live local musicians, talks with
artists and curators, a film and a relaxed
atmosphere to stroll the galleries and socialize
with friends. As an example on May
3 the theme was Passport to South America.
Visitors participated in tango and
capoeira lessons from HARTS, saw a
capoeira demonstration by the Omulu
Guanabara Capoeira Group, made Brazilian
musical instruments, and enjoyed a
prix-fixe dinner in the cafe. Music was
presented by Surcari and the evening ended
with the film Her mano.
