Traditional <strong>YMCA</strong> <strong>Camps</strong>All <strong>YMCA</strong> campers will have an opportunity to experience a variety ofactivities including arts & crafts, sports, large and small group games,a 30 minute structured swim program focused on skill development, watersafety, and game play along with open swim.Kinder CampAges 3-5 years, Weeks 1-9Activities will include games, stories and dramatic play, parachutegames, arts and crafts, outdoor activities and games, sing-songs,special events and a weekly outing. Campers must be toilet trainedprior to attending camp.Adventure CampAges 6-8 years, Weeks 1-9A GREAT way for children to spend their summer! Each day is filled withgames, XRKade ®, songs, swimming, arts and crafts, and much more.Each week is centered on a specific theme to ensure campers have asummer of fun.ExplorersAges 9-12 years, Weeks 1-9This is the “all in one” camp that has a little something for everyone!Weekly activities may include: XRKade ®, high-energy games, sports,swimming, arts and crafts, and more!<strong>YMCA</strong> Skills <strong>Camps</strong>Instructors will work with your child to develop and strengthen specific skillsfor their particular camp. Campers will spend half of the day learning theirskill and the other portion of each day enjoying traditional camp activities.All Sorts of SportsAges 6-8, 9-12 years, Week 1 and 6Campers will be introduced to a variety of non-traditional sports, blendedwith familiar ones. All Sorts of Sports emphasizes fair play, teamwork, andsportsmanship while developing basic sports skills. Includes drills, triathlontraining, cooperative and creative games, swimming, and a field trip. DisneyFor a DayDisney for a DayAges 6-8, 9-12 years, Week 5Does your child love Disney? This camp focuses on a different Disney storyeach day to inspire campers to act, sing, dress up, do prop design andpresent their favourite Disney scenes. Presentations will be recorded socampers can take home a lasting memory.Energy ZoneAges 6-8, 9-12 years, Week 5 & 9New to the the <strong>YMCA</strong>! Energy Zone is a video gaming centre that usesvideo gaming equipment to help you exercise and have fun!Lots of team competitions!Go GirlsAges 6-8, 9-12 years, Week 3 & 9A week long party just for girls! Learn more about yourself, gainconfidence, set personal goals, and make new friends. This camp isfocused on understanding yourself, your health, and individual beauty. Artand crafts, cooking, and swimming really add to the fun!GymnasticsAges 6-8, 9-12 years, Week 2Each child will learn basic gymnastics routines on beam and floor andreceive a progress report for the CanGym Level system. Weekly activitiesmay include: XRKade ®, high-energy games, sports, swimming, arts andcrafts, and more!Innovative ArtAges 6-8, 9-12 years, Week 6Learn about artists from the past and how to make your very own cartooncharacters, beautiful summer landscapes, creative clay sculptures,innovative abstract paintings and much more. Working in a variety ofmethods and materials ranging from drawing, painting, sculpting,collaging and printmaking, this camp is sure to inspire all!!Artist Instructor: Leslie Pullen B.A.Hons, B.Ed, Post-Bac.Ultimate LeadersAges 13-16 years, Week 3 & 4Develop leadership skills from dedicated <strong>YMCA</strong> staff through theory andhands on training. Ultimate Leaders gain Emergency First Aid B certificateas well as experience planning and leading activities. This 2 week programbuilds participants into confident, respected, caring and extraordinaryUltimate Leaders. Don’t just have a good summer: come join us and makeit Ultimate.<strong>YMCA</strong> Specialty <strong>Camps</strong>Campers in specialty camps are those interested in a specific activity.These campers spend half of the day learning about their specialty and theother portion of each day enjoying traditional camp activities.Golf CampAges 8-12 years, Week 2This golf camp features instruction, driving range practice, putting greens,chipping and several holes of golf at Bonnie Doon Golf Course. Camperscan bring their own clubs or use clubs from the golf club.Instructor: Michael BishopMad Science of LondonAges 6-8, 9-12 yearsRockin’ Rockets Camp Week 4If it flies in, with or through the air it will be included in this camp as weexplore the science of aerodynamics. Build your own rocket, stunt planeand other flying machines, explore space and apply Newton’s Law of Motionas we take daily flights of discovery!Crash Boom Flash Week 7Science and engineering combine as campers discover what machines andnature have in common. Join a team of camper engineers to build bridges,domes, and pyramids. Create and control pulleys, levers,catapults, simple machines and megapinchers! Don’t forget thebubbling and bursting chemical reactions - make your own sidewalk chalk,crystal gardens and more!Out TrippersAges 6-8, 9-12 years, Week 3 & 8This camp is for the adventurous camper. Daily trips range from a selectionof Movie, Bluewater Fun Park, Laser Blast, Mini-Golf, Bowling, WawanoshWetlands and Canatara Park. The <strong>YMCA</strong> will provide a receipt reflecting the amount paid in the previous year for eligible membership andprograms in which your child participated.Important Things to Know...• Expect a call from your child’s camp counsellor a few days before camp starts.• If your child will not be attending camp on any given day, please call the <strong>YMCA</strong> before 8:30 am to notify us.• Day trips subject to change based on availability• Participants may withdraw from a camp at any time.• Refunds will only be issued if requests are made in writing and submitted to the <strong>YMCA</strong> Membership Service Desk one week prior to the startof the selected camp session and are subject to a $25.00 administration charge. Refunds will not be issued if the selected camp session isin progress.
