Cars andtrucks are not authorizedto drive out onto the icefrom the shore, nor willthey gain access on base(except emergencies).Authorized patrons usingATVs, snowmobiles, etcetera, may launch andrecover from the shorelineat the seaplane ramp –adjacent to building # 328Vandenberg ConferenceCenter -- if coordinatedwith DA Police in advance-- telephone (586) 307-2621 / 2622.Summer Season (April - October):Boating: Patrons of the700-area marina areauthorized entry into themarina facility and mustpresent authenticationcredentials on demand.All other motorizedwaterborne vehicles areprohibited from enteringthe 700-area marina andmust access through theDNR Outdoor recreationchannel.Non motorized canoesand kayaks may launchand recover from theshoreline at the seaplaneramp if coordinated withDA Police in advance attelephone (586) 307-2621.Swimming: Militaryaquatic training isauthorized with anapproved risk analysis onfile with Army GarrisonPlans and OperationsOffice and prior DA Policecoordination -- telephone(586) 307-2621 / 2622.Army Garrison Policepolicy ensures that Armyand USAF SecurityForces are aware ofsignificant shorelineactivities.Selfridge Security Forcesharmonize information toplan and conduct flexibleoperations to detect,monitor, disrupt and deterunauthorized access tothe installation.No recreational swimmingfrom shore.Special Interest Story: Mail HandlingAnyone encounteringsuspicious mail shouldstop handling the itemimmediately and call 911for security. If a biohazardagent is suspected-- powdery substances --contain the suspiciousitem and area by placingplastic trash bags over theaffected area to reducefurther contamination,then call 911 for properauthorities.If a bomb is suspected --oily substance has staineda package, wires areprotruding, or tickingnoises are heard --evacuate the building andcall 911 for assistance.FP 2
