In the 2009 Australian FederalGovernment Learning and Teaching Performance Fund, UNSW wasthe only university to achieve top rankings for Humanities, Arts andEducation in the ‘Excellence’ and ‘Improvement’ categories. As the third largest faculty at UNSW with over 5,000students, we offer choice, quality and flexibility across the studentexperience. Areas of study are extremely diverse with degrees acrossover 20 disciplines, offering the choice of broader or specialisedprograms. Degree choices include Arts, Criminology, Dance, Education(Secondary), International Studies, Media, Music, Social Science andSocial Work.In 2009 the Faculty launched a dynamic new suite of media degreesin communications and journalism, media production, and screenand sound. Students also have the opportunity to build on theirundergraduate degree with the new one-year Master of Journalismand Communication or Master of Public Relations and Advertising.Enhancements have also been made to the Bachelor of Arts andBachelor of Social Science degrees, allowing selected majors from theAustralian School of Business to be combined with majors in humanitiesand social sciences.Our students are equipped with the ability to think critically andcommunicate effectively at both a technical and creative level,essential in today’s marketplace. Internships, exchanges, placementsand projects offer valuable opportunities to gain work experience,establish professional contacts, and develop career skills that add valueto theoretical study.
