Woodbridge Schooland Marine Discovery CentreNewsletter25 th November 2010Dear parents/carers,This week, I want to devote my piece to revisiting the 4 core values that we introduced earlierthis year, and reflect on them, and our progress in making them the foundation of everything wedo at school. The four values are, of course, Respect, Responsibility, Doing Your Best andUnderstanding, Tolerance and Inclusion. These were decided after surveys and discussion withparents, students and staff. We have had a value of the month, in which we explore what the value looks like, sounds like andfeels like when it is being displayed. Students have made posters, performed songs, created videosand spoken about values. As a school, these are vitally important - it provides a foundation forinteraction between people, and a frame of reference for behavioural codes, discussions aboutbullying and many other aspects of our learning. As we reflect near to the year’s end, I want toacknowledge and thank our school climate priority group, who instigated the values program, andstudents, staff and parents for embracing it and helping to make the school a better place. Finally, we have had a trial of a changed school day, lengthening recess and shortening lunch. Wewill review this over the next couple of weeks, so if you have any comments, please let us know.We will get the views of students before deciding on whether to maintain the changed structurefor 2011.Chris BarnesPrincipalEarly Childhood and Primary Swimming Carnival– Tuesday 30 th November 2010 at Huonville PoolOnce again the Prep to grade 6 students will be enjoying a day of fun and races at the HuonvillePool.
